My Favorite Stone Cold Catch Phrase

Who would have predicted Stone Cold Steve Austin would have a match at Wrestle Mania 38! His match at Wrestle Mania 19 versus the Rock was supposed to be his send off. The energy Stone Cold brings at 57 is as powerful as his 1998 Attitude Era run. He still walks to the ring like a powerful lion. His microphone skills haven’t missed a beat. He holds thousands of people in the palm of his hand by saying, “Give me a hell yeah!” and everybody in the arena erupts chanting, “Hell yeah!”
Stone Cold wasn’t the most gifted wrestler, but his fierce attitude made me become emotionally invested in his matches. He bled (bladed) in most matches to create more drama, and his punches and taunting felt real. From start to finish, all of Austin’s matches were action-packed brawls!
Entertaining promos brought Austin to superstardom. From driving monster trucks and beer trucks down the aisle, to ambushing Mr. McMahon in the hospital and assaulting Booker T with frozen pizza. He did it all.
He expertly delivered his lines, and he didn’t allow anybody to walk all over him. His confidence and trash talking his opponents were pure gold. My eyes were glued to the television every time he spoke.
Stone Cold had an abundance of catch phrases. Most notably “Austin 3:16, and that’s the bottom-line cause Stone Cold Said so!” Austin had the ability to thousands of people audiences yell “What” during his and other superstars’ interviews. My favorite was “Eh-eh!”
Austin didn’t use “Eh-eh!” in every promo, only to stress when he wasn’t going to tolerate something. Be it an order from Mr. McMahon, or the Rock going after his title, he simply wasn’t having it! It gives me the chills every-time I hear it.
Austin’s wrestling prime ran from 1997-2003, which was during my late teenager years and early 20’s. His promos and comedy helped me mature as a high school student. I took his standing up to the boss as a way to stand up for myself!
“Eh-eh” is so powerful to me that I use it to reject anything I don’t want to enter my conscious mind. If a person is getting under my skin, inside my mind I go “Eh-eh!” Procrastination is trying to take over my mind while working on a lengthy project, “Eh-eh!” Running late to work and about to feel frustrated? “Eh, eh!” Letting out this primal grunt helps keep me from falling off the edge.
Though I don’t flip off people or drink excessive amounts of alcohol like Stone Cold, I will continue to “Eh-eh” my way through everything I find unacceptable in my life.
